Overview

The RACI model is a useful framework that can be used to outline roles and responsibilities throughout your family business and for specific projects. The RACI model outlines who is Responsible (R) for doing the work; who is Accountable (A) to ensure objectives are met and tasks are completed; who is Consulted (C) and needs to provide input prior to completion; and who will be updated and Informed (I) on progress and decisions. The column headings across the top identify names or teams, the projects or decisions are listed on the left, and the roles (R, A, C and I) are entered into the grid. The framework is useful when there are many people and more than one team involved. RACI software and framework examples are readily available.
